Godwin Sepeng, CFA – Key Investment Team Member as Chief Investment Officer

  Godwin graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Science (Statistics & Economics) degree. He is a CFA (Certified Financial Analyst) charter holder.

  From 2007 to 2012, Godwin was head of the Long-Term Equity Boutique within Old Mutual Investment Group South Africa (OMIGSA). In this capacity, he founded, managed and provided oversight to an investment business. Whilst in this role at OMIGSA, Godwin, together with Senzo, co-founded and co-managed the Old Mutual Pan Africa Fund and the Old Mutual African Frontiers Fund until their departure from OMIGSA in August 2012. Godwin also managed the Community Growth Equity Fund and Community Growth Fund of Funds.

  From 2001 to 2006, Godwin was employed by the then Old Mutual Asset Managers as a senior portfolio manager, where he was responsible for the portfolio management of a number of retirement fund assets with AUM of R40bn, including unit trust funds. These included the Old Mutual Top Companies Fund, Public Investment Corporation Equity Portfolio, SABC Pension Fund, Post Office Pension Fund and Municipal Workers Pension Fund in South Africa; and Government Institutions Pension Fund and Social Security Commission portfolio in Namibia, among others. He also managed R10bn of the Old Mutual Namibia Life Company assets across all asset classes. This entailed detailed investment research, asset allocation and stock selection decisions.

  From 1997 to 2000, Godwin was employed by Old Mutual Asset Managers (OMAM) as an Senior Investment Analyst, where he analyzed consumer sector companies and small companies, and provided investment recommendations in respect of these companies.

  Prior to joining OMAM, Godwin had a brief stint at Nedbank as Product and Management Information Systems Manager and at Genbel Investment Corporation as a Trainee Investment Analyst in 1994.

  Godwin founded LEGACY AFRICA Fund Managers (Pty) Ltd (LEGACY AFRICA) in 2012 and the company became operational in November 2012. At LEGACY AFRICA, he is Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer.

  Godwin has over 26 years investments management experience, 19 as a portfolio manager.
